Jolabokaflod

In Iceland people have a beautiful tradition which they celebrate each Christmas Eve. This tradition is known as Jolabokaflod, which translates roughly to “Christmas book flood” in English.
Each Christmas Eve family and friends are gifted books to read by the fire while sipping hot cocoa together.

Jolabokaflod began during World War II, when paper was one of the few things not rationed in Iceland. Because of this, Icelanders gave books as gifts while other commodities were in short supply.
This tradition has continued to the present day and is becoming increasingly popular around the world. Of course, I never need an excuse to curl up with a good book!
Happy Christmas Eve. Its not the kind of Christmas we all imagined, many of us are separated from our loved ones and some have lost friends and family members. Sending everyone a big hug who needs one today, especially those who are alone (((❤) ))
