We have recently rediscovered the joy of playing vinyl records. It has taken our enjoyment of music to a whole new level.
With our record player we unable to make playlists and we have to change our record every few minutes. Perhaps that sounds annoying and time consuming to you?
I think we have all become so used to setting up a playlist on our devices and then almost forgetting about them. Before we know it the playlist has ended and we barely remember any of the tracks.
We hurry off doing other things instead of investing our time and attention into each song. Music is a powerful mental and emotional stimulant and relaxant.
When you have to really focus on what you are doing you are being fully present in the moment. You hear the words and enjoy the melody of each song.
There is a magical warmth and tone to vinyl that the crisp, sterile downloads and cd’s do not capture.
When we listen to our favourite song we may sit back and reminisce, close our eyes, or dance around the room as we immerse ourselves in the moment.
We are seeing a huge resurgence in the popularity of records, so I am far from being the only one who is enjoying them. As most of our record collection is Pop from the 1980’s, my favourite musical genre, each song brings back so many fun memories.
